Post by: karishafer on September 22, 2009, 06:40:59 PM
I don't really know anything about this piece.  I was *told* it was turn of the century, european and mahogany.  Anybody have any insight?  Thanks!!!!

Any markings on it?   Sure looks "clean" like it has been refinished?

I just added some more pics.  The only markings are the stenciled numbers on the bottom of the drawers and pencil numbers on the drawers.  The stencils sure don't look old.

I have to say, this piece doesn't say "old" to me. It says "expensive", and it says "very nice", but it doesn't say "old". I may be wrong of coarse. I ain't no expert, I'm barely a novice. The red flags to me were just how clean and sharp it looked, even in the carved design. If it old but was refinished, I would expect to see some residue of the old finish in the crevices. The wood in the drawers seemed a little off as well. Whatever age it is though, it looks like a fine high quality piece.
