Fantasy Item. seem's to be a lot of this junk a round . ran a cross a brass spitton today. supposedly from the union pacific rail road. just a fake.

I agree , D&b .
I've seen a bunch of reproductions in local estate sales , in the past few months - even at 'high quality' sales .
I'm begining to wonder if some the auctioneers are sneaking in a bit of their own crapola .
The above fake was bought @ a local auction (for about $30.00 too much!!!) .

I use to injoy, reading about the fake glass that was turning up in the 1920's & 30's now it's become a night mare trying too keep up with the fakes. there even fakeing Watt pottery. if it becomes popular look out.

Watt pottery was a really "hot" item almost 20 years ago so I hope the wife don't come home from "garage selling" with a repo piece she thinks is worth a bunch.
I once bought one of those brass spitoons for about $8 and my buddy said "why did you buy that, its a repo". I told him "because I don't have a piece of brass in the shop and ya need those shiny "eye catchers" and/or something for everyone".
I put maybe a $15 tag on it, and wouldn't ya know, a woman came into the shop about 4 days later and bought it, no questions asked.
