Title: hand-painted silk bedcover from leucio w/pictures
Post by: plking on October 08, 2009, 12:34:21 PM
I think my dad must have got this in Itlay in the mid 50's.  It is blue silk with hand painted flowers and looks like it might be Romeo and Juliet.  Can anyone tell me where to go for a value?

The only info I have found on this over the years is that they were made in Italy.  You see more for sale in the US than Italy.

They are predominantly from the the 1930's - 1950's.  They sell from $59 to $250 depending on condition/size/colors/and most of all....what someone will pay.

They sell higher here (in the US) than Italy.

I'd go along with KC's opinion , as to general prices .

San Leucio was THE major center for silk trade/manufacture in Italy in the 18th century , all the way up to about 1832 .
The silks produced there during those periods are amoung the highest - priced silks from Italy ( in today's marketplace ) ... they often adorned the palaces of kings & other fancy-pantsed sorts .
