Title: A little odd one
Post by: regularjoe2 on October 13, 2009, 11:49:38 PM
Here's a carved Tiger tooth , from the estate of a Jesuit priest ... was given to me last week by his nephew , after my return from a Euro-trip (Paris , Luxembourg & Brussels) .

It has a 8mm silver ring atop it & is 2 9/16" long .

The carved cat image is on both sides , and is smoother on the back side due to being worn around someones' neck .
It's a bit of an old-timer .

The former owner served/studied/traveled most of the world (excluding N. & S. poles) .... he also was known for being 'a bit eccentric' .

Good refs , sapphire .

The one I have has Luang Phor Perns' Katha etched on it , making it a bit of a rare bird .

I think I'll go with invulnerability .... except emotionally , if that's possible ...

Thanks , D&b .

I surfed the site twice , while in europe .

I was busy buying art (for somebody else , sigh...) , eating waffles , chocolate & fries .

Got to see the Magritte Museum in person too .

All that being said , I'm glad to be back in my native United States !

RJ, did you see the morning news about someone here in the US buying art for someone overseas?

He paid $19K for a painting in NY ....... and the experts now think it is a da Vinci, ...... worth maybe $150M.

Now talk about a "sleeper" that has been napping for quite a few years and no one knew enough to wake it up until now.

Wish it had been me.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

This one you're talking about was bought by Peter Silverman (Canadian art dealer) @ auction in 2007 .

$150 mil is a pretty good return for 20k , I'd say !

Thanks for showing this art RegularJoe
What a beautiful piece with her gaze having awesome appeal. You got to love the hair and long neck too.
If this is a da Vinci it is my favorite work by him.
