I don't know much about art, but it has kind of an effect as if it were done in pencil (but not quite). It seems to be pretty old, because it has some older newspapers sealing it up. Can anyone help to identify this and possibly estimate a value?

Here is a bit on info on the lithograph. It may be that part of the value lies in the frame it is enclosed in. Hope this helps a bit.

ifs , the damage on your litho can be arrested by replacing the offending framing elements with acid-free mat'ls.
As to repairing the damage done .... well .... that may not be possible (the cost of conservation work would probably greatly exceed the value of your item) .
It's also possible that you've got an engraving , rather than a litho .

Thanks for the info. Basically what I have is a type of reproduction and you're saying the frame might be worth something? The text that reads "The Favored Swain" on mine is italicized and different from the one on the link you posted.

In the link I posted I feel the frame may make up a portion of the asking price. To me, it appears as though yours has either been reframed, or framed at a later date using a much less ornate setting. Not an expert here like many, just going on hunches and info I have found. ;) Will see if I can locate anything on the 'title' for you.

Thanks a lot. Just trying to decide how much I should sell it for. : )

How should I describe/sell it?

Some good descriptions about the picture are in Sapphire's "Columbus" notes. Collector's Lithograph "The Favored Swain"
