Title: Two Figurines
Post by: syl on January 04, 2010, 06:57:29 PM
We have these two figurines that I'm trying to identify. There is a mark on them but I can't find it in any resource. I've gone through Chris Marshall's site but haven't been able to match it to anything. Anybody got any ideas? I'm hoping if Chris sees this he maybe can shed some light. Thanks.

The closest I come with the marking is #50 under Spain!

I have also found the same mark used in Berlin (Royal Porcelain Manufactory) under the King of Prussia,  as noted on page 479

What do you think of this item?  It is the same mark and is designated as being from the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin as well......

I agree with KC. but note the faint markings. yours is very bright. and older figures, Antique the vent hole is most often Irregular. in these the hole is not......

So D&b, you think they are repro's or are just made in the mid 1900's?
Can't decide on this one!

We can see... the numbers D181 we can see a near perfect vent hole plus the fact the interior is very smooth. the trade mark is bright & cheer full I would say repro's.

Thanks for all the info and Chris is definitely correct. It's KPM. Just goes to show it's not what you know but who you know. I don't think
these pieces are very old, not antique, but I do believe they are genuine KPM. And based on what I've seen on other sites I think they would have pretty good value. Maybe $200-300 each? Sound reasonable? The mark I posted earlier was from the male figure because it was very clear. I've posted the mark from the female figure which is not as clear.
