Title: Oak Armoire

Hello, I have an armoire that i was told is around 125yrs old.  It is oak, it comes apart in panels. It has 1 mirrored door and 2 smaller mirrored panels.also 2 drawers. I have tried to do research on it but dont really know where else to look... Thank you for any info anyone might have on it. Thanks

here are a few of the inside, about the best i could get .  the other pic is what was on the top that we removed to fit in our last house.  Thanks for your time  :)

The golden age of oak was about 1890 to 1920. this one is Tiger Oak. what surprised me were the Dove tail's there English. It a Chifferobe not and Amoire it should sell in the 2,000.00 Dollars.

Circa 1890 to 1910.

Thanks for the info. What is the difference between an armoire and a chifferobe? Any idea where it might be from? Is it english? Thanks for all the replys and help ;D   also what is tiger oak? thanks

"Tiger" means like "tiger stripes", the grain of the wood is "stripey" looking. There is also Tiger maple and Tiger cherry, but the correct name for all of them is "quarter sawn" wood. And it is more expensive than "slab sawed" wood.

Thank you Cogar :) :) :) A Chifferobe has Drawers & a place to hang clothes. and Armoire was designed too store your Armor ! No drawers no clotheing rack etc. there is some Quality work here,

I Should mention the fact.it would not be uncommon too find and upper shelf in and Amoire.

Welcome to the Forum Asia, Thanks for the Post.  This site is a amazing learning tool, I use to say I know nothing about furniture, So I stay out of these threads for the most part, but I have learned alot about them just reading all the post.  Like this one taught me what Tiger Oak is, Thanks cogar.  Again Welcome to the forum.
