i picked this up in a yard sale about 3 yrs back for the outrages sum of 2.00 i think it may be alum,not sure altho it is heavy.it scratched
easy on the bottom,silver colored.it is about 20"x 6" out of the stand.

It looks like an Amphora stand , prob. used for oil-annoiting (religious purposes , etc.) , with associated 'gear' .

Definitely amphora would apply because of the vessel's form. It's styled after the ancient ones that look like the ones below. They were ancient transport vessels and would carry things like wine, olive oil etc. They were discarded on arrival at their destination, but you see them a lot on ancient shipwrecks:

Yup, pretty much! The ancients did a lot of vessel smashing- In Egypt I can remember being places where ceramic fragments are crunching under your feet because after making an offering in a temple or grave site, you'd take the vessel out back and smash it! That part had to be kinda fun!
