Title: Old Sugar Scoop Anyone
Post by: OLDZ06 on February 26, 2010, 10:19:31 AM
It says on the back in pencil, This was Charly Sheltons Sugar Scoop. How old you think it is ? Were these used around the house or were they used commercialy by stores ?

Probably used in a store. You rarely would need to scoop that much sugar at home but would use it daily in a general store. Probably early 20th century?

Agreed - Probably right around 1900.  Pretty clearly not hand made.  Highly collectible.  What is the length of it?  Very nice to have it marked on the back.

Congratulations on a very nice find

WAY nice! It would be fun to try to research who Charlie Shelton was! If you knew where the scoop came from, I bet you could locate his store in an old City Directory.

There is another place that could have been used....a bakery or fine hotel w/a chef!  They did have those long ago!
