Title: Apple Press

 I have an antique cast iron apple press. The tag says it was made in Syracuse,NY.
 The company name is:McArthur,Wirth&Cooney
                                   Syracuse,NY.
There is also a No. 1 raised iron number on it. Would like to find the date and
worth of it.                         louie48

A picture would be helpful. Are you sure this press is marked with the MWC name as they were a supplier rather than a manufacturer?  Is the tag wired on or riveted on the body?  MWC was in Syracuse for most of the 20th century. The building was built in 1899 for the Onondaga Dynamo Works so the press cannot be older than that.  I think MWC sold the press but it was manufactured by another firm.

If your item is in good (actually complete & functional) condition , that would be a plus in the value department .

As waywardangler mentioned , images might help out quite a bit .

Is he talking about a cider press?

Yes, I think he is.  Fruit press, cider press, apple press...round cylinder with perorated liner and cover controlled by a large center screw.  There are many different types but I think it may be like this rather than the ones with a hopper and a large wheel on the side.

That is what I was thinking as well.

Pic would help because there are several different kinds but all on work on pretty much the same principle.
