I have a couple of Mickey Mouse Dolls from the 20's/30's made by a company called Dean. I have tried selling them on Ebay, but have had no luck. Can anyone recommend somewhere for me to sell these for a fair price? Also,I did some research and have priced them at $300. A Disney collector friend told me they are in way too good of condition and that I could probably get more than that out of them. Any suggestion? . Many thanks again in advance!

welcome marc could you please post photos , I do know of a Mickey Mouse 13 3/4" high Stuffed early dean rag- valued at good condition $400.00 very good $600.00 mint $800.00 but in this economy you will not get book value, my advice hang on if you can and sell at a later date.

Both look almost identical, but one has a ribbon around the neck the other does not. One is 6 inches tall the other is 7 1/2 inches tall. The owner I inherited them from bought them in the 60's and he kept them in a "Disney Room" in a glass cabinet with no windows or sunlight. I have inspected them closely and see no tears rips or any damages at all. When researching I noticed many had faded where these still are actually black. Thanks again for looking and any advice would be helpful.

Here are a couple pics of the second doll. Sorry for the crappy pics. Need a new camera!

Nope not the dean rags I have found to small and no reference to dean making that size in any of my research. maybe someone else will chime in. good luck

Is there anything to indicate that Dean is or is not the manufacturer? Maybe a tag?

It sure looks like this one sold by Christies for just over $300, but it says the size is 5-1/2". Any chance the ears could not have been included in the measurement? I'm not a Disney person, so I'm just taking a shot at this.

Hey thanks for the advice. VERY helpful. I am pretty sure they are made by Dean, just because some of the pictures are identical to some others I discovered during my research. Of course, I could be wrong. No tags or markings, but there are serial numbers on the chin.Knikerbocker made some similar but slightly different.

Thanks for posting your wonderfully frightening & valuable Mickey items , Marc-Barr .

Maybe Hakes might be good enough to help you out on a ID if you shot them a email.
They've specialized in this sort of stuff for as long as I can remember.

Pretty good match Dean. But the hands, feet look too big, and the pants are a bit different too. Maybe that is the issue with trying to sell them Marc-barr.

Gotta admit...these are pretty scary looking Mickey's! LOL
-
One thing that has to do with time-frame is the advent of Mickey being depicted with gloves .
This happened ('toon released) March 8 , 1929 .

Yeah, what's confusing is they made several dolls very similar but at the same time different.I agree. Mickey is pretty scary in these. He's had "some work" done over the years. I prefer the Mickey from the early 30's. I did look into Hakes but I may take a closer look at them. MANY THANKS again for everyone's help!

If I am correct Charlotte Clark made the first Mickey dolls for Disney so try that route. HOWEVER....because she couldn't keep up with the demand, Disney gave her permission and she created patterns for people to make their own at home!!!!!

Knickerbocker also made Mickeys and their originals ones were similar.

The first one listed on Worthpoint is the closest. They made so many and they are all so similar, that is what has made it difficult to determine. I was figuring a $300 price on each,so I guess I have priced them fairly. Many thanks again for all the helpful advice. SO MUCH appreciated!
