I pulled a press out of a restaurant that used to own that at one time used to be a candy factory. I'am looking for some info and worth on what it exactly is. The press is made out of black cast iron. it is about 2' by 1 1/2' by about 1 1/2' tall. It must weigh about 175 lbs. It has a 4 handle crank on it that pushes a heavy plate down to the base. It has the #21 painted gold on the support arm. its in perfect shape and quite a can crusher. If anyone has any info or knows of anyone that may, please let me know.

Sounds like your describing a book press. If so it was used in a printing facility to aide in bookbinding. The married pages of the book were glued to the hard cover of the book, placed in the book press under pressure until dry...........Tim ;)
