Today I came across this cool jewelry box. The lid and box itself are cloth covered and the lid looks like cross-stitching but it's actually smooth. I can't find anything about this on google. Anyone have any ideas?

Welcome ladyphenom! Are there any labels or marks on the bottom of the box?

There are no markings of any kind on the box. :-\

I just happen to have one. Mine is a little different. It has a different picture on the top and does not have dividers inside. It is made of cardboard, covered with silk and velvet. Mine has a brand name inside the lid of the box- Hanes. My mom recently gave this to me with a bunch of family keepsakes inside. I believe these date to the early 60's and originally held ladies stockings.
Here's a bit on Hanes history:

Very cool to find out what this was.

I'm glad I could help! It was just a coincidence that my mother gave this to me a few months ago. Funny that another would turn up!
