from an unknown apothecary chemist , c1671 , titled "Apothecary Recipe for Furniture Scratches" .

1 Quart - Fishworms , washed
1 Pound - Hogs lard

Stew them together.
Filter through a strainer.

Add 1/2 Pint of oil of Turpentine and 1/2 Pint of good Brandy .

Simmer it well and it is fit for use .
