Title: Italian Sounding Glass??? What is it?
Post by: tngal_2010 on May 30, 2010, 01:32:09 PM
Happy Memorial Day Weekend,

I have what I think is a cruet set. The label on the bottles says "Italian Sounding Glass"  VPB Milan.  Does anyone know what his glass is?  Is it worth anything?  I believe they are possibly at least 30 years old.

Thanks for your help with this.  I'm enclosing a photo of the set.

Got me stumped too , on that term in ref. to cruets .

Used to be used by some advertisers as a term meaning 'crystal' glass , though (esp. in 'toasting' glasses - such as for wine , etc.) .

Was there ever a salad harmonium ?

After regularjoe mentioning 'crystal' I went back for a second (closer) look. On magnification those stoppers do tend to appear to be cut.  What I thought was just a thick or irregular glass body was caused by moisture. So, possibly crystal?? ::)

Hi,

I went back and looked and the stoppers are cut along the sides.  I couldn't find "Italian Sounding glass" online either.  I think I'll just sell them at my garage sale.

Thanks for all your help.
