From what little I can see in your images & your post , these appear to be platter-like (can't tell their size) stamped-copper items with figural & decorative designs .

Are there any markings on the backs of your items , malcolm900 ?

Also , I'm wondering how heavy/thick the metal is .

At first glance I'd guess sorta vintage items .

Looks more like pewter commerative type plates.   Are there any Hanging holes on the back of the plates?

I assume there are no markings on the back to help pinpoint a maker.  As for the original question of "are they garbage?"  I would say no may not be worth more the $12.00 or so but by no means are they garbage.  There is a fair amount of collectors that would love to have them I'm sure.  If they were in my grubby paws I would post them on ebay starting a $9.99 and see what happen, since they cost nothing you would not lose.  Still not clear on if they are pewter or not, but if they are copper then the value of the metal would be pretty good.
