Title: Doll question
Post by: antiquemania on June 24, 2010, 01:30:03 PM
Hello all, any thoughts on what this is? I recently got it at an estate auction and cannot find anything about it. The body feels like little beads/pebbles, the legs are a cotton, & the face is a plastic/rubberly feel to it. The hair appears to be yarn. I know little about dolls, just thought this is an interesting one. Thanks in Advance for any input!

This is what is called a mask faced doll, made with cloth body and vinyl mask face. These were manufactured between 1944 and 1961.
and range from $20.00  & up  Higher prices for Kewpie or comic book character dolls made in this fashion. :)
