Title: Can anyone help me identify this figurine?
Post by: ulchman75 on July 29, 2010, 07:05:29 PM
Hey, I'm new the forum and im excited to be here. I was wondering if anyone can help me identify this figurine. She is a little over 4" tall. She has no markings. I'm not sure what she is made of. Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forum , ulchman75 .

It's rather difficult to say what your item is made from , esp. when an image is all there is to go on....

I'm curious to know about a sound the item 'makes' , when 'thunked' with a finger , or struck with a wood pencil .

Is it a hollow 'thunk' , or more like a higher-pitched 'ping' ?

On the one hand , your little Dutch Girl looks like it's a glazed & fired-clay item (from the image of its' back side) ; on the other hand , it looks like it might be cast resin (concave 'bubbles' on its' front side) .

One thing for sure , it was made in a mold !

Well, I did the sound test and my wife thought i was going crazy!!!! It sounds more like a high pitched ping. It made this type of sound both when I tapped it with my finger and when I tapped it with my wedding band. I appreciate the info about it being a mold and the other info. And thanks for the welcome.

I am by no means an expert in the type of item that you have , but I've just gone through over 500 o/l images of such items & found no match for yours .

The rather impish appearance of yours leads me to guess that it's a bit more modern than antique , though .

Possibly other forum members will have better & more specific info for you , ulchman75 .

Sorry you had to torture your wife !!!
