Title: Gold Plated Tea Service?
Post by: Swords on March 28, 2004, 05:20:07 PM
I have a tea service that is completely gold plated (although I don't think that it is actual gold). It has on the bottom "Bavaria #11" and a circle with RW in it. Can anyone provide me with more information about this type of service?

looked extensively and none of my german marks references showed a mark like you describe - so, go here

http://www.porcelainmarksandmore.firmitas.de (http://www.porcelainmarksandmore.firmitas.de)

Chris-Simon Marshall is an expert on German marks, and while I coldn't find your on his site (site is new, and a work in progress), Chris accepts e-mail requests and does respond.

The set sounds gorgeous -  :)

... yes, and sometimes he even pops up out of the middle of nowhere and dumps in a message like this one :

Hi Swords !

Well, sounds like that piece is from the facility of Rudolf Waechter (the 'ae' represents the German a-Umlaut) from the town of Kirchenlamitz in Bavaria ...  Sorry I have no further information for you at the mo, will have a look and come round again ...

BTW ... pieces from Rudolf Waechter are relatively rare :-)
