I agree they are neat, but this site lists the auction value at $300 - $500. Maybe you can talk 'em down a bit?

Thanks!
The deal is, there are 6 guns, one i can not for the life of me remember what he called it but it is black and he called it something but i can't remember, im willing to bet next month on eBay i could probably make a few bucks and keep one or two for free.... or three.... or 4 LOL!!!!!!
-
Thanks gain!!
I'm starting to see a pattern here though, all the ones im finding are the trains? I wonder if others are rarer like the cannon??
-
Here is the black one, im guessing these types are a lot rarer??

I did find this...

But, around here those little guns could bring a LOT more than $400 and on eBay may fetch over $600 for the Punch & Judy model, of course i could be wrong.
I still think i may go ahead and get em and just sell them one by one, every month or two...
-
Impressive again. O.k. excuse the ignorance here, but how do these work? Cap guns as in the little paper caps ? And does like the train hit against the tab at the end of the barrel? How old are these? How long has paper caps been along? And is there a test later, and a accredited degree later ;D Sorry alot of question just kind of wanted to know.

I'm in the same boat as you Iron, although it appears the Japan models (PUNCH AND JUDY types) are much earlier than the Arcade Train & Cannon types. You are correct to, you pull the little cannon or train back and pull the trigger!! The Punch & Judy model does it a little different but still neat as all get out!!!
-
The reason I was able to find the info on the train ones was because I could read the tag, which was labled with "Lightening Express" and I found it was made by Kenton. Is there any further info on the cannon's tag?
Love the one of the little girl getting the boot!!! Too cute!

I found the cap gun above at this auction. Not sure if this is an old listing, but they might be ale to tell you what it sold for.

How old is your book?? Just curious..
-
It is Colleting Toys edition no. 8 by Richard O'Brien 1997
-
I had no idea that Punch and Judy was so old!

-
No kidding! I thought they dated to the 1700's but didn't realize that they are much older than that! Kind of sad that so many in the current generation have no idea who they are. I can remember watching Punch and Judy puppet shows in the 1960's, but I don't think they were shown much after that.
-
Well, i am still kicking this deal round, i want them so dam bad!! But the price ain't right yet. I need Bob Hope to come save the day!
-
They made all kinds of these guns! They are called: Cast Iron Cap Guns, Animated Cap Guns, Character Cap Guns, Figural Cap Guns and Collectible Cap Guns.
Some of the kinds are: Train - Lightening Express, Punch & Judy, Lion, Little Black Sambo, etc.
Most were made by makers: Kilgore, Stevens, Ives, Dendt, Mordt, etc....
They are highly collectible and the prices will only go up. BUT YOU DON"T WANT TO PAY TOP PRICE TO JUST RESELL!
-
Hey Olecanal, I found one up for auction for you. The auction closes in nine days, the starting bid is $200 and the estimated value is $400 - $500

Exactly, i'm a dealer, they gotta leave me some meat on the bone!! I'll see how a few of these sell that i am watching and make my decision then and pray that the guy don't sell them before then!!
-
I just noticed something guys, the ones pictured in all the links are different than mine. Mine have letters on the handle of the gun (lightning) which stands for lightning express, the ones in all the other links in this thread do not have that, im willing to bet most of the ones in those links are repops ...
