This is another piece of glass from an estate sale that MIL gave hubby. He wants me to sell it so I am looking for some descriptive words. MIL thought it was German - hubby said he saw similar in Belgium. It looks like mosaic tiles applied to glass but obviously it's not. Just cut glass. Has 2 mismatched plates which I may sell separately.
How would you describe? Checkerboard seems rather pedestrian... LOL
Do you think it looks German?
Candy Jar or Cookie Jar?
Start Price?
Jar measures 9.25"H with lid, 4.25 without, about 6.25"D at the bowl's widest point.
Plates measure 1-1/2" H (they have a curved lip), 5-5/8D
The glass itself is 1/8" thick on all pieces.
Don't spend a lot of time. I'm just looking for descriptions. I can't even think of any words to google to see something similar nor have I found on Replacements. Thanks!!
P.S. Wayward... Not sure if the topic belonged here or eBay forum. Please move if in wrong place.

Oceans, do a Goggle on ..... "glass blue cut to clear" ..... or "blue cut to clear glass".

Ahhh! That worked and should keep me busy for a while ;D I think I may have found it's vase brother too altho the seller knows nothing about the piece.

I'd say that the items in your images are fused & ground glass/crystal .
There's generally 3 types , depending on kiln temps : slumped , tack fused & full fused .

I would use Colbalt Blue Cut crystal Block square pattern, Colbalt Blue cut crystal will get many lookers at least. Those are wonderful pieces. Let me know when you post them, I just may have to bid ;)

For you IL... Free shipping w/local pick up and I promise to be on time!! BTW... There is a discount if I am served warm brandy from a in a local GW parking-lot LOLOL
Hubby wants to research more but I think we'll be lucky to get $40 for the lot.

Oh I think you can get more then $40.00 for the lot. The lady would love these I'm sure. I looked a while back at Colbalt blue Cut crystal on Ebay and some of these pieces get a pretty penny for sure. Couple makers really known for this kind of work is of course Waterford and AJKA, some others too.

We'll see - I'll let you know when I list. I'm betting these won't go in 7-14 days and that about all my interest in selling them will last...

Agree with ironlord about you should get more....
