First - I'm not sure if it's worth it to consider rehabbing the mirror as it's silverplate. I am thinking of trying Cougars re-silvering process. I did find a Hallmark but after searching I am coming up empty. I'm googling silver hallmarks and looking at ones for Holloware... Does anyone recognize this? Am I even searching in the right places (Holloware)? Any other place to look? I don't mind searching, just need direction...
Also, opinions on if it's worth it. It's not an heirloom, was in a lot of silver bought at auction....

As soon as I post I (may hae) figured it out... I think it's "DSCO" and possibly Derby Silver Company but am still looking for Hallmark examples. Just wanted to post so no one spent time on it :)

Thanks - one of the first places I check... Not there unfortunately

Found one post with no answers, but it's a mirror with the same hallmark:

I found lots of misc. silverplate items marked DSCO, but no one seemed to have a clue who the manufacturer was or how old they are.

Oceans, are you positive that it is D S CO? have you verified this under a loupe because the pics are not clear. The S could be a G because that C does not look like a complete C either. just wanting to make sure.

Thanks Tales - Hadn't seen that so I probably have the DSCO right. I found someone at worthpoint that said DSCO was Derby Silver Co and in another bio it said they made toiletries (and other stuff) until they became part of Meridian in 1933. Other than the one hearsay reference I'm still coming up short and you're right, no one puts 2 & 2 together
After looking on eBay, I'm pretty sure this will be trash. It's in sad shape with all the dings and probable silver loss. There are some nice examples on eBay that go cheap and are sterling so if I want one, they are out there. I'll probably keep and clean the glass tho... Can always make a picture frame or something.
Wayward: No, I'm not positive it could be DSSO for a second guess...

What is the design on the back side?
Silver vanity sets are still VERY popular and sell well.
I had a few pieces that were not worth resilvering so I sprayed them with Rustoleum Hammered and they looked really nice for a re-worked item! Sell like hot cakes!
I believe you have the DSCO right - here are two items for sell on Ebay (mirror and brush). DSCO could be the distributor and not the maker!

KC, I used that hammered spray finish on some steel rims on my trailer and was very pleased with the finish. Nice paint from Rustoleum.

Found reference to a Diamond Silver Company!

Thanks KC - I saw the eBay ones and a few other non-toiletry items. I'm liking the Rustoleum idea!! I can see if I can get a cheap hand mirror at the drugstore that will fit the frame to replace the mirror.
The back is more roses.... Off to research Diamond Silver Co ;D
