Here is a neat coping saw.  I'm guessing probably early 1900's-

Is the handle adjustable ??  With the handle that close to the blade would be a bit difficult to control. It sure is an old one though !!  My Dads was a bit different !!

I looks like the handle will slide along the frame.

Yup, a fret saw. The deep throat is the clue.
