Title: Vase
Post by: Birdldy60 on May 04, 2011, 05:05:30 PM
I have a ginger jar made in italy (ardalt primavera) with yellow and blue flowers, ribbed pattern, about 12" tall.  It has a stamped number on the bottom #4420.  Would you know the value and approximate age of this vase.

Found this......which indicates it's at least 30 years old. Article was posted in March 09.

"The Ginger Jar centerpiece is a gift Mr. P. gave me almost 30 years ago."

The number is one off, yours is 4420, hers is 4421

Looks like someone had an identical piece that they were asking about back in 2001, but I presume the answers aren't archived?

Birdldy60, I found this site while searching for a maker of ironlord's 'cars' and thought it might be of help to you too.

Might be worth signing in to their forum and posting your ginger jar there too.

The first big clue is that it is written in English...so...an item most intended for export!

If you research Ardalt Inc., New York.  Importer in the 1940's....you most likely will find lots of other items with many different pottery marks.
