I think it is porcelain and nothing on the back

Hi! Welcome!
Does it look like it has been cut down in size?
-
I will take a look and take a few more pic. It is at my work. I found it in a basement of a old farm house in ohio. It was in between a wall.

Welcome to the forum , rukind007 .
A rather interesting item .... I'm curious to know if the white 'frame' of this item is part of the entire steel sheet (stamped steel) , or if it is simply a frame for your item ... my eyes can't tell , from the posted images .
-
I will have move info after work today. the steel is thick and all one piece,I have no use for it but it is cool.
-
The pics are nice! Are they painted by someone or you got it from somewhere? Seems to be painted............ ......
-
It is not painted it is screen printed or something
-
I found out for sure it is porcelain the print is very nice it is 3x4 and around 30lb any offers??
-
The actual image looks like a Maxfield Parrish print. I'm currently digging on the interwebs to see what I can find.
I always liked his lighting. Good luck on finding more out about it.
-
Thor, you are correct. It is a Maxfield Parrish print.....

Thanks kysfinest! I'd found the image without a title and was still digging.
One thing I did see was this quote:
"Very large Maxfield Parrish posters are rare and costly when you do find them, although you can still find some that were printed by Paper Tiger Press in La Jolla, California, in the late '60s and early '70s." (from http://parrish.artpassions.net/)
Hope that helps rukind.

you're welcome! I still can't find anything about them being printed on porcelain though.
-
Franklin Mint was printing limited editions on porcelain (http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/1834076) but that is a small 7"x12" one.
-
WOW!! Thanks so much for all the help. It is very nice. Now what to do with it, It is heavy. what in the world could it be from?? The printed part of it is mint not a chip or anything. The colors are just amazing. What do you think about making a nice frame for it.
-
I think I would leave it as-is !!
-
Ditto!
-
That is what I think I will do. It was glued at one time there is glue on the back. Every one that see it can not believe the colors in it . the print itself is near mint. Where would you sell somthing like this or any other forums that I could check into?
-
SHOULD I E-BAY IT

rukind, you might want to try contacting Brown & Bigelow, the promotional company that originally made the calendars using the Peaceful Valley scene. It's possible they may have some old records showing distribution (however limited) maybe for promotional purposes? Finding it's origin, use and approximate quantity produced would likely help both in locating interested parties and a base for pricing.
http://www.brownandbigelow.com/BBCorpWebsite/history.htm
"In 1936, our president Charlie Ward stunned the calendar industry by paying the then extraordinary sum of $10,000 for the exclusive rights to Maxfield Parrish’s "Peaceful Valley." Other artists, including Norman Rockwell, C.M. Coolidge, Gil Elvgren, and Zoe Mozert, soon joined our company as contract artists."
