I have a China Trade hand painted peacock feather fan featuring Mandarin figures amid floral decoration, with pierced ivory spokes collected by a brass link with attached original tassel; custom matted and framed behind glass, Canton c. 1850?? 17.25 in H x 25.25 in W. The item was handed down from my Grandmother and I'm wondering what it's worth may be?
Can anyone help? Thanks!

$1600!! Nice price!

Thanks to everyone for their responses! Can anyone guide me in where/how I could try to sell this piece?

I would approach a higher end antique shop and see what they think. The $1650 from oneofakindantiques is their asking price. No telling how long it has been there at that price. You could put this in an auction of Oriental art/objects to get the best exposure and price. I am not sure what part of the country you are in but if near a major market you should do OK. If you are out in Wyoming, you will have to ship this to a major market to get a good price.
You could always put it on eBay with a reserve and take your chances.

I agree with Wayward. Can you e-mail pics to a few good Auction Houses and ask for a pre-sale estimate? I would rather spend a few $$ on a good courier and get top dollar at a good Auction House, than risk it at a local auction.

Can you post a close up pic of the ivory hand piece ?? I had one similar years ago.

http://www.victorianelegance.com/fans.html (http://www.victorianelegance.com/fans.html) This one lists for $165.00

Unless an auction house knows something different....I am betting this will be the going price range for the average buyer/seller. Best of luck!

Well found KC .. That first one is considerably smaller, but the second link looks right!
-
That second link had a question mark by "Ivory" so they are npot sure about it !! The one I had was made to look like ivory but was a form of plastic. Thats why I asked to see a close up of that portion !!

There is an Asian antiques auction coming up in Big D( Dallas ) in Septmber. They take consignments, and are linked up with liveauctioneers and rogallery so they get alot of exposure. Here is a link for you
