Title: Match holder
Post by: kg988 on June 27, 2011, 08:13:56 PM
All I know is that this is some kind of match holder.

It smells like brass.  Made in New York by M. Loewenstein.  The leather sleeve for the match book is made of leather and has a picture of Vienna (i think) on it.

Does anyone know more about things like this?  What they are called, what time frame they were used, anything?

Thank you, now that I know what it's called I could find out more about it.

Found one on ebay without the sleeve that sold for $80, http://cgi.ebay.com/Loewenstein-Bronze-Match-Holder-SafeAshtray-Arts-crafts-/130448546066

Not bad for a $4 purchase.

Strike while the iron is hot! You should get at least double the price with the sleeve. Arts and Crafts is in demand. I did not realize this was in the A & C style.
