These were purchased at a yard sale and I was told they belonged to their mother so I assumed they were older. I've done a little research and I believe they are a brass open barley twist design. What I don't know is if they are older or replicas of an older style. They're beautiful and appear to have a beautiful patina with an ornate base. They're heavy and they're approximately 11 inches tall. They do appear to be hand made because they're not completely matching or uniform in design. The screws that secure the candlestick to the base have been replaced other than that they appear to be all original. I would appreciate any information on how old these might be and their value. They look nice and appear well crafted. They should be marked if they are quality pieces. I do not like that screw. How do you know they are replaced?

IN my opinion they appear to be a more modern set....the stand/bottoms resemble those that have been popular import items in the 80's and 90's.
If you look at the true antique barley twist candle holders they didn't have this "elaborate" base....the base was rather simple. These have mixed styles.

Yes the barley twist candlesticks I was able to find online do have a more simple base. I haven't been able to find a makers mark so from what you're telling me these could date 1980's-1990's. The metal screw just doesn't look like it's original they're brass and the screw is a silver metal flat head, this is why I thought they might be older because the screws appear to be replaced. Thank you for the information.

They're still attractive, and certainly useable! Polish them up ready for Christmas (or even your Thanksgiving!)

agreeneyes, the imported items of this time period are put together with screws from the beginning. Cheaper and easier. Typically imported from India, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand.

Still nice....and if I was looking for some I would pay $20 - $28 for them! Decorators would pay the same and most likely more because of their fancy bases!
