I am thinking of purchasing a 57"x42"x13"dark oak Gustav Stickley cabinet. It is in excellent condition. It is marked with the Gustav's signature and the woodworkers compass mark. It appears, however, to have been painted at one time (very minimal paint traces remain after it was apparently stripped away) and I am wondering if the value has been seriously compromised and what the value might be currently.

:o anytime refinishing occur's on and antique. there is serious damage done. I would reconsider buying. in most cases it will half the value. plus the fact it's going to be hard to sell.
