I think it is only auctions that offer proxibid because there are many local auctions that do not show up in my Zip code area.

Yup..many small auctions do not show up on here. These are major auction houses in here which have signed up with proxibid. Still this site has many cool features for referencing as well one of which is if you click on Webcast Auctions and then click on Catalogue..shows you what is up for auction. Many extremely interesting items are in there..Plus the site tells you the names of the major auction houses in your area.

Having a major auction house in my area would be nice but unfortunately, there are none. Almost all auctions here are on site farm , household, or estate auctions. If there is an off site auction, the firm usually rents a Legion Hall or something similar.  We used to have a small auction house that was run by a realty but that is gone because there was more money converting the space to apartments. I bought the best crazy quilts I have ever seen (around here) at that auction house this past spring.  But hey, there is nothing more wonderful spending a whole day at a farm auction, being outbid by everyone, coming home empty handed, BUT the pie was excellent at the food wagon!
