stone looks like some kind of animals with shells someone who knows what it might be?
Perhaps an early wireless mouse "lol"
-
It kind of resembles a scarab but it could be a type of wireless mouse also. Maybe a prototype. Prototypes are always worth more money than the real thing.
-
yes exactly my thought should give a good penny today when there are so many copies, and other debris ::)
-
Did you say it was made of stone ??
-
Yes some green stone! mart!?
-
Are you somewhere Jade would be found ?? The center line on the bottom has what appears to be Chinese characters !!
-
How can you see if it is Jade?
-
I have no idea !! I am just saying that green stone might be and with (not sure) what looks to be Chinese characters on the bottom, that it may be a possibility !! If people that post would let us know the location sometimes its easier to track down !! If something similar were found in the USA and had different symbols I might say something totally different like Native American piece for instance !!

Here is a website about jade. It offers a few tips for HELPING to identify jade, but the only reliable way is to consult a jeweler.

I do not think it's Jade because it can scratch the surface with steel! But thanks anyway for your effort to try and help me please Peter

I agree that it looks like a scarab beetle, in which case, those may be hieroglyphics on the bottom. I searched for hieroglyphics alphabet, and a few of those looked similar.

Looks like a turtle shell to me !!
-
Thanks it is a hard nut to crack ??? ;)
-
LOL Well I am talking about the overall shape !! Indentation in front like where the front legs and head would be, dome shape over the top and the skirt around the edge that most all turtles have !! And green color is common to turtles !!

I searched a little further and, from what I can tell, it is a Canaanite Scarab Seal. You can Google that and compare. Could be very old, but may not be worth very much. I saw a lady selling a large lot of them for $100, but yours could be older, rarer, etc.
