Title: Henry Anson Wylde 1908 - 1984 - original acrylic painting
Post by: Thrifty Threadz on August 04, 2011, 01:21:59 PM
Anyone know if this painter is sought after or collectible?  I know he was active in the southern CA in the 1930s, and was chief of expositions at the LA County Museum of Art for 43 years.  I don't know for sure what style this painting is considered.

I've attached two photos, one of the complete painting and one of a detail of the same painting.  It has some wear/damage, which you can see.
Value???

It is cool and I would call it modern art. Depending on the value, it might be worth it to have the damaged areas in-painted/repaired.  There is an art book called Davenport's Art Reference & Price Guide that lists all known artists that you may want to reference to see if he is a listed artist.  Otherwise, I would contact the LA County Museum of Art and see what they think. They may want to purchase it.

I find it odd that Google images has none of his works.

Thank you, so much!  I'll research the other areas you suggested and post any useful information for future use.
