Hi all my nan is down sizing her property. Anyway she had taken most of her belongings she dint require to the local carboots :'( >:(
except the furniture items and my granddads interesting items (his war items and items he collected on his travels (he was a deep sea diver)). Im trying not to think about the items she had taken the carboots NANS LOL. So i convinced here to phone afew dealers up to get them have a look 1st but nans been nans she only phoned 1. luckily i was there when he arrived well putting kettle on. She let him in he had a quick glance and said to her ill give you £200 for the lot as it would take him a while to move on. I hit the roof and made him leave. How can they pick on such vulnerable people is be hound me. So ive filled my spare room with all her items to do abit of research first ive done most of the items (i must say its very addictive im loving it) BUT ive gotten a few hair ragging items and i was wondering if any one can help.
Here is the 1st item
thanks trev

Well we've decided to chuck it on flebay as we came to a dead end and my lady wants her office back :-[ (spare room)
ive started it at £50 do you think this is about right for a come get me price. As my old dear thinks its abit high.
also flebay for some reason wont let you sell ivory items if they are pre 1900 but this table as far as we have got is 1930's+
i thought pre 60's was the uk law??? ive had to list it as INLAID INDIAN TABLE :( can anyone think of any better way to advertise it
thanks trev

Personally I think its a very low price !! Many times if you advertise a good piece on ebay with a low price, you only get a portion of the buyers you should get because they think low price equals an items quality !! Cheap price = cheap table !!

Never thought of it like that mart. Do you think the other items are as low as well :(
As all items aren't doing well at all and all of them are at max 20% of the value i put on them after the research i did
i think iv made a big mistake here but at least ill get more than the dealer offered and its only half of the items we need to shift :)
so ill start the next lot a lot closer to the valuation i found (researched).
how far off were the others ??? As the cigar box is a restoration job but is ivory. im wondering as i have a couple more ivory items and im wondering if a dealer would be better but 1 who specialises in ivory its self. But with it them being from 57-58 will they touch it???
as iv read it has to be before 1900 to be legal in the uk
Thanks Trev

I am not sure about the coins but I would say that the start price on most of the items is low !! Can`t do anything about the things you already have bids on,, but if they don`t sell I would up the start price a bit !! Those lamps are nice !! Hard to find things like that here !! Perhaps you should enlarge your selling area to include the U.S. !! Costume jewelry is pretty hot here !! Would just cost more to mail so you would have to make sure that shipping charges are enough to cover overseas !!

Are you sure that you've got the info on Ivory correct? it's illegal to sell anything prior to 1947, and that comes under CITES, so I don't see how ebay can say you can't sell it if it's pre 1900, that doesn't sound at all right. As far as I can see you haven't identified the material in your listing, which will not have helped. My advice is that if nobody snaps up the table this time, then take it to your local Auction House for a free valuation. You're somewhere in Staffs so there are quite a few in your area.
