My mother found this and I am trying to figure out what it is. It has the number 33 printed into the back. Looks like a handle or some sort of decorative attachment, but I can't figure out what it is.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I think it is the "key" that is turned in a gas lamp. Let me see if I can find a picture of a similar one...

Hmm... looks like I am wrong about that. This is what I was thinking of and it doesn't look like yours:

Me thinks it is a pendulum for a clock. ;)
-
just wondering how heavy it is?
-
Not very heavy; it appears to be cast and the back side is hollowed out as the pic shows. I thought it might be a clock pendulum but it's not very heavy on the end and the manner in which it appears to attach to something doesn't look like more pendulums, which appear to be attached by a hook or some other "loose hanging" manner.

The inside of the hole doesn`t appear to be threaded so it would just hang rather than be something that was a tool of sorts !! And it looks more modern rather than old !! It looks more like a pendulum than anything I can think of !!

I keep thinking about it "lifting' something. Like how pots have removable handles. You just hook it to the item to move or carry it. I honestly have no clue though. I don't know much about antiques either. Hope we all get to find out what it is for!
