Title: Japanese Vase
Post by: michelleplus3 on September 09, 2011, 04:30:23 PM
Hi everyone,

Could you help me identify the maker of this vase? It belonged to my mum. I have looked all over the net but can't identify the makers mark

Thanks
Michelle

Did you try this site?  Has a lot of Japanese maker marks on it.  http://www.gotheborg.com/marks/index_jap_marks.htm

thanks greenhorngirl

I did try that site and had no luck unfortunately. The mark does look reasonably modern but its such a lovely big vase.

The label "Made in Japan" would date the piece after 1950 or so !! Before that time it would have only had "Japan" as country of origin !!  Many pieces were made for sale here  as part of the recovery after the war !!
