This is what my grand father brought home from the war. He traded something to the German prisoners for the pins and the money he collectted from where he traveled. I know what the thrid object is. Let's see if you know.

Size of the whatzit ?? Appears to be a thread holder,, part of a sewing kit ??

No, It's about 6in high X 3 1/2in.

It was used on a ship. I guess it was used ali during the war on and off the ship. Battlefeilds too!

I was originally thinking a film holder.....but 6" in heigth? How wide?

To pack gun powder?

They didn`t pack gunpowder in WW II !! This would have been something carried by and useful for a man !! ???? Still thinking !!

Thank you my grandfather was an interesting man. I'll have to show you the book from the ship he gave me. It's so funny. They made him a chef on the boat. Every recipe is for a thousand people or more.

I'd love to see it! Here I thought Christmas dinner was a chore. Imagine cooking for a thousand people?

Did the other two things go with it ?? I have seen a lot of shell casings but none with those with it !! What caliber ??

Top cloth eagle is Army breast eagle off uniform, the other is Luftwaffe (air force) the black medal is a very hard to find black wound badge, most were just stamped out this one is hollowed out, neat. The cord is from a roll of piping that would have been sewn around edges of shoulderboards on uniforms, this one denotes police I believe
