I'm no bone expert. But it looks and feels like bone. Where the marrow is, it feels real. What kind of bone could it be? Have no idea about old old it might be.
Any guesses?
9 inches in length
2 1/8 inches across
The middle thickness is 3/4 inches

This is lovely, but the sheer size of it I think eliminates the possibility of it being bone. Maybe it is petrified wood?

I wish I could take a better picture. It's not wood. If it isn't bone, I'd be more apt to think it would be some type of synthetic material. It does have some weight to it. Very hard surface. The part where the "marrow" is, is rough. It has a cool feel to it. (That could be that my house is drafty!)
This is going to keep me up all night! LOL!

Any chance your cool crib board could be antler (moose) ?
-
I just don't know anything about these things. Arghhh! Maybe I'll hunt down a hunter and ask. ;D

Looked @ alaskaantlerworks.c om & saw a boat-load of crib boards , but not so much like yours .
Maybe it is bone (bovine-ish) ... like perhaps from a shoulderblade ?
Thinking maybe an alaska item , maybe wooly mammoth ? ???
-
LOL! Wooly Mammoth. :D I'd be rich then, wouldn't I? I'm hoping it's not a walrus jaw bone:

O.K. , maybe a whale jawbone ....

Antler had not ocurred to me. It does look like it could be moose or something. It definitely looks like a natural material and not anything synthetic.

I think you just might be right about the antlers. Been looking at some. The dark part of it looks similar. There has to be a hunter nearby, I'm in Canada! ;)

I agree with the petrified wood. It looks like tree bark. If you look at the side are their rings that you would when you cut a tree?
-
Thank you both! It has to be! I love this place, can't thank you enough!
