Another piece i picked up at auction...Excelsior Bicycle...When i try to research this i keep running into made in chicago 50's schwinns ...but this logo isn't schwinn or chicago its just Excelsior Made in Michigan City. When i look for that i just find motor bikes. Anyone have any idea what i have here and how old is it?
Thanks
Andy

didnt they find one of these on American Pickers?
-
Yes it was on American Pickers !! Don`t remember details though !!
-
I think it was one of first of something. Maybe it was something with the gears?
-
I will look for it tomorrow !! Eyes are blurring !!
-
I believe Excelsior made motorcycles as well
-
Well i do know excelsior made the motor bikes and bicycles and later even did some things with triumph...but it is just very hard to find out the age of them...and all the pictures and articles I've seen i haven't seen one that looks like this.
Thanks for all the input though and i've contacted a few other places if i find out exactly what it is i will make sure to let you all know.

This is the American Pickers bike. It has a little history with it. That's a 1911 Excelsior.

I looked up the address, it is no longer there, TI would appear to have had the Skyway built over it. :o

Is there a patent date on this bike !! I think from what I have found that Excelsior was a sub-brand of Henderson !! Schwinn and several others used the Excelsior name as a style of bike so its possible that a patent might give info on what was original to this one !!
