Title: a few more of they afternoon's finds
Post by: JoshandLila on October 16, 2011, 07:43:15 PM
Heres a few more items I really liked that we picked outta they old buildings. The first is an apple press, this ones gotta be cleaned up real good but should turn out quite nice. Im guessing its early 1900's, hopefully everything turns when I get it cleaned up. the second is an old leather barbers strop that still had some nice advertising on it ( didnt know if it had any value but I love old knives and accessories ) no clue on they age but I know the brand is pretty old. The 3rd is a couple of cast iron bases I found that I thought might be for old lamps  ??? figure Il put them in the project pile.

Looks like you have been having a real fun time!!!  Neat finds!!!!

Do the bases have any markings?  They also resemble bases for medical poles!

You two find the greatest stuff! I had to laugh when I saw the lamp bases. I had three floor lamps that were in ruin. There was no way I was pitching that. Took them all apart and will make something out of them.  And the apple press! Love it!

The first item is a "Sausage stuffer / Lard press". Did you find all the parts that go with it?

The cast iron bases look like flag stands to me.

Interesting things...that's for sure.

Rauville - great catch on the flag stand!!!  They are selling from $39 to over $90.....all over the place in our area~ Most here have 4 legs

I have seen similar items like the Enterprise used for both cider and sausage.  Guess it depends on the attachments you get with the particular ones!

finally got the juicer apart, low and behold they attachments were inside  :D  the gears are frozen solid so I threw the top piece into an ultrasonic cleaner today and got one of them to move so a couple more hours in it tomorrow and it should be freed up. Il be posting it up in the projects section when I have it freely moving and am a lil farther into the restore... that ultrasonic cleaner is something else ;D
