Title: Victorian wind vane and my grandpas hitching post
Post by: JoshandLila on October 23, 2011, 07:14:49 AM
Last Im gonna put up for awhile, hope Im not overdoing it this morning but Im pretty excited! The first is a Victorian wind vane with they original stained glass in the fin. We put it on the lightning rod to display but its not origional to it. This thing is beautiful and Im wondering what the value might be. The second was my grandpas horse hitch, POST AND ALL lol. My sister has this ready to go to the dump but I figured Il plant it in my yard today, should make a good conversation piece. Not sure if its really old or if it has any value, but its mid-west and thats my culture. Thanks for looking  ;D  ;D

Hard to tell about the hitching post but it does not look like a newer repro !! Don`t know why everyone wants to trash stuff like that !! Plant it and keep it !!

Thanks!! we do our best  :) mart- I love it when I can save something from the dump that I like, and whether it has "value" or not, I can always appreciate things that were made when things were made to last!!

Wendy, I noticed the one on ebay has the glass broken, does the fact mine is intact greatly increase the value? or are they expecting top dollar for a broken unit?

not to drag up an old topic but I got the hitching post set in the front yard and just wanted to post up a pic. think well repaint the post itself and then Im gonna put a few old horse shoes on it for decoration ( and screws to hold it together lol ).. this really brings back memories  :)
