Title: Japanese box bought this at a tag sale, any idea what it is?

The language is japanese  its very detailed and has golden writing on the inside


The top pulls off and its like a box.

If I were to take a wild guess I would say its maybe something to put written prayers in at a temple or something, but Im sure someone here will know for sure

I thought candies or cookies or liquor. That's what I thought when I saw it. Don't go by me though.

This thing looks pretty cool! Ditto what mart said, it will make it easier to hunt down and I just have to know what it is!  :)
