I'm not a new seller, but I did just open an account for selling my items, mostly antique figurines. My wife and I used one together for years but now that I'm selling more than buying, and she the other way around, we decided to split ways for book keeping sake.
I'm wondering though, if now I'm basically going to be giving my stuff away even taking a loss for awhile till my stars are up.
Like for instance, I have this rare Sitzendorf (http://www.ebay.com/itm/150684440292?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649) and it's gotten multiple bids(main reason being I started it at 1cent with no reserve and free shipping) yet when I look for it in a search, it's always waaay down in ranks, like in the bottom 10 or 15 %.
I thought ebay liked hot shot gamblers who let their stuff fly out the window in hopes to grab some attention from the buying masses. Am I nieve in thinking this, and should I rethink my strategy and keep it more conservative like the Buy it Now Nymphenburg (http://www.ebay.com/itm/150682164141?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649) listing I have up for sale?

You're going to have some troubles because of having no feedback. When I first started selling, I had something like 6 feedback. I sold a dozen items for almost no money just to get the feedback at a decent level. It's a complete pain, but how it goes sometimes.

In your description add the reason for low feedback, that you were selling with hubby and decided to do your own thing and tell people to read your feedback on hubby`s ID !! He should put some reference to the split in his description to verify the info for you !!

I know this is an old thread, but I have a quick question that kind of pertains to this... Mart might be able to answer this if she sees it.. Should I be letting people know in my ad descriptions why my seller feedback is currently '0%'? I just opened my account and haven't made any sales yet.

No need for you to mention it, it'll be evident that you have a Zero feedback, but I wouldn't worry too much, everyone has to start at the bottom. Try to make your postings as professional and honest as possible. Try not to give the buyer any reason to whinge and give negative feedback.

I would add that you should start by selling some cheaper items first to get the feedback up a little. People are more likely to buy a DVD from a new seller than a Faberge egg.

Yes I saw you mentioned that earlier up in the thread and I am gathering up a few small items to advertise that I can put a low price on. Thanks everyone for the advice ;D

When I started I said a little hello and told everyone that I was a new seller and I appreciated them taking a look at whatever it was I was selling !! With ebay, I am also a firm believer in CYA !! I follow every sale, track it, and make sure when they get it they are happy with the item !! Also if I sell an item that there is a problem with,, a chip on glassware for instance,,I email them at the auction end and make sure they knew about it !! If they missed it,, even though it is clearly stated in the description, I give them the chance to opt out and offer it to the second chance bidder !! Have only had to do that once !! By doing that,, if the buyer tries to not pay because of it,, I have that email to prove my case !! I have only had a couple of bumps in the road and not major ones at that !! I just treat it the same as if it was a brick and mortar store and try to assist the customer with anything I can !! And you will have problems along the road but they were never my problems !! Had one occasion where the mail delivered the package to the wrong town and even though it was only a few miles away,,my customer had no car so took a few emails to get that straight !! He eventually got it and was happy !! Have made a few friends out of customers too !! What I absolutely hate are those than do not answer emails or communicate with you in any way !! And those that fail to leave feedback !! There are a bunch of those !! I took a loss on many items starting out and broke even on a few before I started making any profit !! So expect that for a while but if you add one or two better items with a few that are inexpensive and just be consistant you can do well on ebay !! I have found that you can work out anything with a little tactful conversation !! You just have to sound nice even if you are cussing under your breath !!

What happened to the wrist ?? Broke mine a while back,, not fun !! One finger typing,,,come to think of it,, nothing has changed !! Still type with one finger !!

It started out as tendinitis and as of today it has changed to something similar with more focus on thumb. Still a possibility of carpal tunnel. Been in "the wrong brace" for six weeks now according to the doctor. Such is life.

Try the gin soaked raisins !! Many swear by this for pain !! If it doesn`t help,,ain`t gonna hurt !! Just golden raisins soaked in gin till it evaporates then eat about a teaspoon a day,,about nine raisins !!

It can't hurt. May help with the arthritis in the hips too. Once cooler season hits around here, the dampness becomes a little uncomfortable.

I agree with mart, and whenever I sell something I always include a short hand-written note with the item.

Way too many online sales leave out the human factor !! You might as well order from a catalogue then !! I do the same Mario and on occasion I even enclose a card !! If I am at a garage sale and someone has thank you cards or mixed boxes for $.50 or so,,I buy them and use them with my ebay !!

I also write "Thank you, -RR&R" on each of my invoices. It's a little thing, but people seem to like it. And besides, I am thankful that they had interest in whatever it is that I'm, selling. Without people, I would be out of business.
