I have various plates, cups, saucers, soup bowls. they all have gold trim and each one is numbered in gold. the symbol on the back of each dish is a crown and looks like two sticks crossing each other. it also says else on the back under kronach germany. If anyone can tell me a date or value of this china it would be greatly appreciated. :D wkee317@msn.com

here's a site to help identify Rosenthal porcelain
http://www.petziman.de/hallmarks/rosenthal.jpg (http://www.petziman.de/hallmarks/rosenthal.jpg)
Click lower right corner to get enlargment arrows, and you still need a magnifying glass (at least I do ! ) Kronach was one of the Rosenthal factories. I don't see that particular mark, tho'.
I earlier missed the pattern name of "Else". I went to replacements and it shows a blue/white pattern.I trust you've gone to the ultimate German marks expert, Chris-Simon Marshall, at:
http://www.porcelainmarksandmore.firmitas.de (http://www.porcelainmarksandmore.firmitas.de)
if you think the Else pattern may be yours, go to:
www.replacements.co m select China, R, Rosenthal continental, and the Else pattern. KB
