Antique Questions Forum / WHAT ARE THESE? (BRASS RIVET BUTTONS)
« Last post by pooroldcancollector on October 18, 2025, 05:25:48 PM »
Found these in an old peanut butter jar. I tried searching brass buttons, which just brought me to a bunch of buttons, and I also tried rivets - This brought me to similar type hardware but nothing quite the same. Was showing me these nail/stud like split rivet things. Does anyone know exactly what these are or what they would be from?

PS... Please forgive the dirty looking photo! These are in a little container awaiting cleaning - they have a green tarnish/dust on them - and didn't I drop the container the other day!?! Had to scoop them off the shop floor

Thank you for your reply. I think what will distiguish mine from the available prints of his other work, other subjects,  is that my limited edition print is out of print, unavailable - as stated on his gallery page "This limited edition is no longer issued/sold out/out of print. ", so that is why I am not sure how to price mine for sale. Thanks if you have further thoughts.

Just from the pictures - it looks like the real deal to me - especially the wear on it!

Hope all is well with you and that fabulous place you bought!  Did you ever get the work finished?!  Miss seeing your treasures!

FYI - Unfortunately Mart passed away last year not long after her husband.  She is terribly missed!

Hey guys, it has been ages since my last post and I hope you are all doing well! Hubby has decided he likes this Windsor rocking chair. The price is right and it would be a fun road trip. Furniture is not my forte, and I could use some assistance. The patina looks good, wear is correct in all the appropriate places for use. There are no screws. The only pegs I see coming through adjoining pieces are at the back of each arm. Visible in the second photo.  All the rest are blind holes. No markings of any kind. No cracks. Underside of the seat is plain. Looks like walnut finish. I am thinking late 19th century? I would love to hear what you guys think.

Antique Questions Forum / Re: Need help in valuing a serving dish
« Last post by Tracyhoi on September 25, 2025, 02:42:22 AM »
Hello,
I have a dish made around the mid nineties.  It is 13" long and 6" at the widest point of dish.  There is a scene of a building called "State Normal and Dormitory", Spearfish, So. Dakota.
Does anyone have an idea as to its worth?
It might help to check auction sites or collector groups for similar mid-90s commemorative dishes. Local historical societies or alumni associations from Black Hills State could also be good resources to gauge interest.

Hi!  Very nice piece of Jim Booth art.
The reason for the $1000 is to help cover costs because 1) you cannot buy these readily, 2) it will take a long time to find another one, if you can find it 3) It is to cover the cost AND tries to take into account shipping, handling, framing, etc.  IT IS NOT THE VALUE OF JUST THE PRINT!
So many of his are selling in the price range of $80 - $200 (depending on print and market demand).

Hello to All, I am hoping for some help on a fine art limited edition print titled  “Ripley Light 1911” by Jim Booth, numbered 162/950, signed in pencil and dated 1986. (Release year was 1987) 20 by 26 in. wide, framed and matted. (Approximate print visual 13 by 18 in. wide)
The Print Evaluation for Insurance Purposes page (dated January 2018)
on his website lists Ripley Light insurance value at $1100.00. Original release price $50.00. This limited edition is no longer issued/sold out/out of print. As stated from the JIM BOOTH ART GALLERY, INC. Print Evaluation for Insurance Purposes JANUARY 2018.
Jim Booth passed away in 2021.
I am interested in selling this print but have not found anyone selling this print now for a price comparison. One signed, framed numbered print sold on Proxibid in 2021, for $90.00, listed as a 1986 print, with a higher print No. 188/950.

How do you value a print that is no longer available such as mine?  In the Jim Booth Gallery, there are some limited editions of the approximate size for $115.00 but the difference is that there many that are still available.
Thank you very much for opinions.

Antique Questions Forum / Essential Techniques for Professional-Looking Furniture

A router tool is only as effective as the bits you pair with it. The dovetail router bit and  raised panel router bitare two of the most essential tools for creating furniture and cabinetry that are both strong and elegant.

The dovetail router bit is ideal for interlocking joints in drawers, boxes, and cabinet frames. Beginners should work in shallow passes to maintain precision and achieve tight, clean joints. This ensures your pieces are structurally sound and visually appealing.

Raised panel router bits create dimensional panels with raised centers and detailed edges, perfect for cabinet doors and decorative furniture panels. The combination of dovetail joints and raised panels produces projects that are both functional and aesthetically impressive.

High-quality carbide-tipped bits make a noticeable difference in finish and durability. routerbitmall.com offers a wide variety of dovetail and raised panel bits, complete with organized storage and detailed specifications, helping woodworkers select the best tool for each project.

By mastering both dovetail and raised panel bits, you can create professional-quality furniture and cabinetry, combining elegant design with strong construction for results that truly stand out.

If it is in really good shape it would still be worth $$$ with a collector or nostalgia seeker!

Hope all is going well with you!  Miss the old gang on here!  So many have passed away!
