Tips for camping near a lake during summer?
« on: June 03, 2025, 10:45:06 AM »
Has anyone here done lake camping in the middle of summer? I’m planning a short weekend trip and I’m a bit nervous about the heat and bugs. I’ve only camped in the mountains before where it gets chilly at night. This will be my first time pitching a tent near water. Any must-haves I should pack or things to watch out for?

I’m more of a day-tripper than a camper, but I love how different the sky looks when you’re away from city lights. If nothing else, enjoy the stars. Worth it just for that view.

Lake camping in the summer can be fun, but it's quite different from camping in the mountains. You'll need to prepare for heat protection, insect protection, ensure you have drinking water, and choose a well-ventilated campsite a little further from the shore to reduce humidity and mosquitoes.
