Fine Art, "Ripley Light"
« on: September 22, 2025, 09:29:57 PM »
Hello to All, I am hoping for some help on a fine art limited edition print titled  “Ripley Light 1911” by Jim Booth, numbered 162/950, signed in pencil and dated 1986. (Release year was 1987) 20 by 26 in. wide, framed and matted. (Approximate print visual 13 by 18 in. wide)
The Print Evaluation for Insurance Purposes page (dated January 2018)
on his website lists Ripley Light insurance value at $1100.00. Original release price $50.00. This limited edition is no longer issued/sold out/out of print. As stated from the JIM BOOTH ART GALLERY, INC. Print Evaluation for Insurance Purposes JANUARY 2018.
Jim Booth passed away in 2021.
I am interested in selling this print but have not found anyone selling this print now for a price comparison. One signed, framed numbered print sold on Proxibid in 2021, for $90.00, listed as a 1986 print, with a higher print No. 188/950.

How do you value a print that is no longer available such as mine?  In the Jim Booth Gallery, there are some limited editions of the approximate size for $115.00 but the difference is that there many that are still available.
Thank you very much for opinions.

Hi!  Very nice piece of Jim Booth art.
The reason for the $1000 is to help cover costs because 1) you cannot buy these readily, 2) it will take a long time to find another one, if you can find it 3) It is to cover the cost AND tries to take into account shipping, handling, framing, etc.  IT IS NOT THE VALUE OF JUST THE PRINT!
So many of his are selling in the price range of $80 - $200 (depending on print and market demand).
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Thank you for your reply. I think what will distiguish mine from the available prints of his other work, other subjects,  is that my limited edition print is out of print, unavailable - as stated on his gallery page "This limited edition is no longer issued/sold out/out of print. ", so that is why I am not sure how to price mine for sale. Thanks if you have further thoughts.
